D-Fenders Acquire DeShawn Stephens

EL SEGUNDO – The Los Angeles D-Fenders have acquired forward DeShawn Stephens off of waivers, it was announced today by General Manager Nick Mazzella.

Stephens (6-9, 225) most recently played for the Akita Northern Happinets in Japan, averaging 10.3 points and 7.2 rebounds in 41 contests (25 starts). He has also competed in Turkey and France during his four-year professional career. An L.A. native, Stephens attended Los Angeles City College and Santa Monica College before playing two seasons at San Diego State, where he averaged 6.1 points and 5.1 rebounds for the Aztecs as a senior in 2012-13.

He is expected to make his NBA Development League debut when the D-Fenders host the Reno Bighorns at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 10, at the Toyota Sports Center.
